WE ARE FINALLY FINISHED........

Well - we actually finished last Friday, but of course I am just now getting the chance to post. We ended up with a total of 5316.5 miles, just about 5 1/2 miles extra. We have officially walked to Romania as a group. It took a lot longer than we had anticipated and many of us were tired of recording it along the way....but we had a goal and that was to complete it! I just want to say thank you to everybody who has followed us on this journey and who has supported us both financially and prayerfully! God has provided and in a little more than a month, we will be on our way to ROMANIA!!

I am in the process of creating a new blog site in which I will chronicle our adventures. Please add yourself as a follower so you can follow us along our way. Keep in mind, I am still working on it and hope to have it up and functional before we leave.

WOW - its been 4 weeks since the last post

What can I say...May has been a very busy month. The last 2 weeks most of us were working at the race track selling pizzas for Papa Johns to get money for our trip. We made a good chunk of what is needed, but we still have a ways to go!

I haven't posted, but I have been getting the miles and keeping track over the last 4 weeks. Some of the weeks' numbers are a little lower than some, but we are still doing pretty well and should be finished within the next 2 or 3 weeks. We have come a long way. It's hard to believe it is June already and in just 2 months and a few days we will be on our way. We (the boys and I) got our passports yesterday so it is becoming more and more real every day!

For the past 4 weeks, we have clocked 674.32 miles and we now have a total of 4689.96 miles completed and 621.04 left to finish the entire 5311 miles. I think we are all ready to stop keeping track...we don't mind doing the work, but tracking has become a pain at times :-) I am going to print my spreadsheet out for the scrapbook I have already started making. We have a great story about a prayer and a faithful God who answers! God has taught me so much all ready on this journey, and I can't wait to see what else he has in store for us in Romania!

Thank you for your continued support - financially and prayerfully! I will continue to post our miles until we reach the 5311 miles that we promised to walk. Once that is done, I will continue to use this blog as a personal journal of our time in Romania.

Week 18 Totals

This week we completed 176 miles and are now at 4015 miles which leaves 1296 left to go. We are getting there...slowly, but surely!

Thank you for your continued support financially and with prayers. The boys and I got our passports ordered on Monday, so we are almost set to go. It is hard to believe we will be in Romania in 3 months. Please pray for another team from our church that is heading out on Friday and continue to pray for our team and the people of Romania who we will meet soon.

We belong to a wonderful church and we know God is in full control.

Have a wonderful week ahead.

DEADLINE for Walk-a-thon has come and gone....

Well folks....yesterday was supposed to be the end of the Walk-A-Thon, however, that goal was set with 5 families in mind....since we are down one family, we did not quite make it. A couple of the families actually did meet their goal....so that is good. We will continue to walk to get the remaining 1,472 miles that are needed to reach the team goal of 5,311 miles.

As of Friday night, we have a total of 3839.64 miles. Please continue to pray for us as we continue to walk, try to get the necessary funds to order our plane tickets and the remainder of the money needed for the trip. Also, please continue to pray for the people and devastation caused by the tornados last week in the south.

Week 16 Totals Are In

This week as a team we had a total of 198.25 miles, to make a total of 3630.62, which leaves 1680.38 left out of the original 5311 miles. We are getting there slowly but shortly.

The Lowrys and the Beatleys had another yardsale yesterday. Thank you so very much for everybody who donated items for us to sell. I think it is phenominal that we made just under $1300 over two yard sales. We are still working hard to get the needed funds by May so we can order our plane tickets. I am out of town this week, but when I return we have some other ideas we are working on....

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter today. It is one I won't soon forget, my youngest son was baptized today...he was the last of our family to take this huge step, it is awesome. Our God is awesome, and we belong to an awesome family of Christ followers!

Have a blessed week!

Week 15 totals are in...only 2 weeks to go (officially)

Our totals this week are 196.76 miles which gives us a total of 3432.37 miles walked and 1878.63 miles left to go. With only 2 weeks left, we obviously aren't going to make the deadline, but we will continue to walk.

Today we celebrated our church's 20-year reunion and it was a wonderful day. I am so humble and grateful to belong to a family such as this.

I am going to keep this post short since it is late and I have to get up early for work tomorrow and get rolling on my work for the week since I am only working 3 days and then I will have 11 days off. I am very excited.

Please continue to pray for our team who is heading to Romania.

Week 14 totals are in...ON TIME I might add

Well, for a change I am posting this on Saturday like I originally had promised. This week our total is 162.92 miles brings us now to 3235.61 miles. A combination of rain, work schedules, and busy lives keep us from getting to our goal, but don't give up on us....we are still walking for this great cause.

God is definitely teaching me patience during this phase of trying to earn money for this trip. He is definitely SHOWING me in many ways that no matter how hard I try, I am not earning this money, He is definitely in control and the money is coming in a little at a time....in His time, and I am so grateful for what I am seeing from Him.

We went to a block party today in Concord and I had the best time...I just want to go back again tomorrow. For some reason I am drawn to the quiet, withdrawn kids who don't talk or want to eat or play....there were 2 today...1 girl and 1 boy...they were the last 2 I talked to before I left...and the when I shook the boys' hand...he hugged me...oh he was so sweet and I hope he still remembers my name when I come back next month...I won't forget his. He looked either sad or scared or a little of both and I just wanted to hold him and tell him everything is going to be all right. I was surprised at how when asked "How can you get to Heaven", one of the older girls responded and said "being good"....I've heard that people around the world have never heard of Jesus or what his dying on that cross did for us if we believe in Him, but I don't think I have ever seen it first hand....and I didn't have to go around the world to see it - it's in our own backyard. These beautiful children have formed a bond of friendship...the older ones look out for the younger ones...the younger ones look up to the older ones....and for a few hours....we tried to feed them, love them, and show them how looking up to our Heavenly Father is the way to Heaven. TODAY...made Romania feel real for me, TODAY....made me want to tell kids here in Cabarrus County, here in NC, here in the USA...and EVERYWHERE about Jesus and what He did for them, for me....for you! YES - Jesus loves us.....

I apologize for getting off topic...I am on this supernatural high and I just want everybody to know how amazingly God works through all of us!!

Please continue to pray for us over the next 3 weeks that we will get the necessary funds so we can purchase our tickets on May 1st. Please pray for those of us who need to figure out passports and all of the other fun stuff it takes to get us there...and please pray that no matter what...God will show up in our words and open doors to bring more people to His Kingdom. He is coming soon...Are you ready?

Week 13 totals are in

It is becoming a normal occurence that we (I guess I should say I) post our totals late, but it has been a crazy busy few weeks as you can tell my our totals for last week. I apologize for the delay in posting, with the yard sale and all-dayers at church and the great celebration we had Sunday night since my youngest, Jeremy, accepted Jesus as his Savior, I have been a bit preoccupied...throw in trying to plan his birthday party, a trip to VA over Spring Break, working, and trying to recruit nursery volunteers for our great church, I have had little spare time!!! But alas, here are our totals - please keep in mind that we had a lot of raining last week and we were all pretty busy preparing for the yard sale - the total for the week was 173.6 miles for a grand total now of 3072.69 miles.....we are still behind, but we won't be defeated!! We will complete the miles! We are getting closer and have walked more miles than we are missing, as of last Friday night, we only had 2239 miles left to go!!!

On another note, we had our 2nd Romania Missions trip meeting and got to meet one of the people who will be going with us. He seemed very nice and had a ton of great information to give to us! I am excited and scared all at the same time. James and Randall are the only ones in our group that has never been on a plane before, this just might be interesting.....We also had our yard sale and split the earnings between our 4 families. We did pretty well! Please keep praying for us as we come near the time when our funds are due for the airfare. Thank you for all of your support!

We chose the basket raffle name today.......

..............and the winner is Michaela Rohrbach from Leesburg, VA. I am going up to VA in a couple of weeks and will take her prize(s) to her! Thank you to everybody who donated to the basket itself and also to those of you who donated money to purchase raffle tickets.

We will have our updated miles later tomorrow, however, with all of the rain we have had this past week, we will probably be short again this week...but we won't stop walking!

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

Week 12 totals...better late than never I reckon!

Well, here it is almost Wednesday, and I am just getting around to posting our totals. Time just keeps getting away from me. I can hardly believe this Saturday we are having the yard sale. I know most of us have garages, and dining rooms, and vehicles already full of stuff to bring to Molly's house this week. Thank you so much to everybody who has already donated items for the yard sale, and if anybody else still wants to, there is still time.

We are also still selling the raffle tickets for the basket raffle. There are a ton of awesome homemade gifts in the basket, you absolutely don't want to miss an opportunity to win this basket. If you haven't purchased a raffle ticket yet, please contact us...there is only 4 days left!!

Now, on to the important news for the day. Our totals for this week are 218.65 miles and our total is now 2899.09. We have 2412 miles to go. We obviously won't finish by the deadline, but we all definitely plan to keep walking away those miles even after the money is due for airfare.

Please continue to pray for us, the Romania trip, and a good turn out for the yard sale on Saturday. If you don't have anything to do, come on by....Christy Smith has donated some of her wonderful baked goods which we will be selling along with some lemonade, and some other baked goods from us. Ask us if you don't know where we will be!!

Blessings to all of you!

Week 11 totals are in - and we are over half way there!

This post will be super short because I am running out the door for yet another event....it seems these days we are always on the go!! This week's total is 221 miles for a grand total of 2680.44 miles walked. We are over half way.

Thank you for your continued prayers for our team. Please continue to pray about financially supporting us. Also, please let us know if you are interested in purchasing a raffle ticket for the basket raffle which will be drawn on April 2nd.

Love in Christ,
Bobbie

Week 10 Totals are in....and an update about our team!

Well, I apologize for being so late...here it is almost the weekend again and I am just now posting last week's totals. In my defense, I have been working crazy hours...so without delaying any further, our totals for last week were a bit lacking, but with the weather, and work schedules, and life, our totals are down, but our spirits are not...we are also missing miles from one family (which I will discuss in a minute). The total for last week wsa 154.96 miles and we are now at a total of 2459.44 miles as a team.

The news that I mentioned, and part of the reason our numbers are down, is because one of our families have had to pull out of the trip for personal reasons. Joe and Cyndi won't be going on the trip to Romania, but the rest of us will still continue to walk, and we are determined to meet the 5,311 miles...it may take us a bit longer, but we plan on making it to the end. With that being said, I just personally want to let Joe and Cyndi know that we will miss them on the trip!!

Please continue to pray for our walking and for the fundraising and the trip itself. Thank you to all of you who have supported us already. Love you all!!

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Week 9 Totals

Sorry for the late, late post!! I have had a couple of pretty crazy weeks....and I am not sure it will get any better over the next 2 weeks.....but we will see!

The total miles for our group this week is 254.4 miles and we are now at a total of 2304.48 miles out of 5311. We will most likely be over half way next week which is very exciting.

Please continue to be in prayer about supporting us either by prayer or financially. Also - remember to tell all of your friends and family about our Basket Raffle! We will continue to sell tickets through the month of March. Also - please remember to let us know if you have anything you would like to donate for the yard sale scheduled for April 2nd.....anything and everything is welcome!!

I hope everybody has a wonderful week ahead!

In Christ,
Bobbie

Week 8 Totals are In

Well - I am a day late again, but here is the update for this week.

We walked a total of 210.69 miles and have completed a total of 2050.08 miles out of the 5311 miles we need. We are almost half way, which is very excited.

I am working now on the Basket Raffle and should be posting an update shortly. I am sure some may say this is a "humble brag", but I think you will be very interested in what all will be available in the basket. You don't want to miss an opportunity to buy a raffle ticket....or multiple tickets for your chance to win this. Keep your eyes open, I will have it posted sometime between tonight and Tuesday morning. We will be selling raffle tickets between March 1st and April 2nd. We will have the basket set up for display at our yard sale on April 2nd and we will pick a name at the end of the yard sale. You do not need to be present to win, but please keep in mind, this is for local Concord pick up only.

More to come.....please let your friends and family know to begin following us!

Week 7 Totals are In

This week's tardiness is completely my fault....I started feeling bad Thursday and by Friday, I was miserable...I did break down and go to the doctors and after getting a nose spray, an antibiotic, and a 4-hour nap, I felt like a new person...only I was still very tired. Yesterday with basketball and grocery shopping, I was just too tired to follow up on getting the miles. I have finally updated the walking tracker and now the blog. I apologize for the delay.

I think I speak for all of us, when I say I can't wait until the Springtime comes and we these sinus issues, flu sypmtoms, and stomach bugs go AWAY!! It seems like we have all been hit with them at some point since the beginning of January, and I am ready to tell them goodbye!!

So - the moment, everybody is waiting for...well the 13 followers of our blog anyway....We completed 317.98 miles and are now at 1839.39 miles out of 5311. It is hard to believe how fast the days are going.

I have sent out all of the reminders for the donated items I have been promised and will try to pick them up this week. I am hoping to get the baskets together this weekend with plans to start selling raffle tickets the first week in March.

Please continue to pray for us as we battle sicknesses, sore bodies, and on some days, even sore hearts. Please pray for encouragement for our group, please pray for stamina to keep us going and meeting our goals, please pray for us to receive support financially and emotionally. Your prayers keep us going!!

Also, please remember, we will take anything/everything that you wish to donate for us to sell at the yard sale we are planning on April 2nd. Please contact any of us and we will find a way to pick it up!

Thanks again for following our progress and PLEASE send people our way....We would love to find a way to get more followers to our site.

Week 6 Totals are In - We totally STEPPED it up this week!

Well, we are doing good this week...not only did we pick up our miles, we are updating the blog as promised on Saturday!!

Before I post the totals, I have to admit that I made a mistake...I was slightly worried because we seemed slightly (more like enormously) behind on our miles...and today I realized that I shorted us when I created my spreadsheet to track our miles. I had us only have 12 weeks instead of 17 (ending in March instead of April). Now that I have that cleared up...I am very excited to say, we are on track to finish! I am so excited for this mistake I made...and that is not how I normally feel about mistakes I make!!!

On to the news everybody is waiting for!!! This week we clocked 314.62miles. Our grand total as of right now is 1521.41 miles!

We are well on our way to getting to Romania. We should be meeting soon with Pastor Sean to discuss travel plans, etc. Soon I will have to start thinking about getting passports for me and the boys....The walking is keeping us busy, along with making great gifts for our craft sale and our basket raffle and emailing anybody and everybody I can think of to donate to our basket raffle. I am very excited to say, I have confirmed donations for a coupon from a barber shop run by a friend, Shannon Tretow, a donation of a memory board created by a friend and former neighbor, Lisa Crowder, and also a surprise gift from Elizabeth Sugg at Little Magnolia's. This is on top of the other donations I have received.

We have definitely set a date and confirmed a place for the yard sale, which will be April 2nd. We will also be doing the basket raffle drawing on this date. Anybody willing to donate an item, please take note - we will need the items or coupons available by February 28th! So we can get the baskets together and start selling the raffle tickets.

ALSO - we are trying to plan a Karoake night, but are in need of finding a location. I haven't had any luck yet with getting information from our management company to see if we can rent out the club house.....we are looking for a place that gets lots of traffic. Please let me know if you have any ideas!!

I am going to wrap this up now...please continue to be in prayer for all of our families. And if you could, please tell your friends about our blog...we would really love to get more followers....the more people that know, the more prayers and support we can get!!

Monday, February 7, 2011

A Little Late...Week 5 totals are In

Well - we apologize for not posting on Saturday like we normally try to do. I didn't get all of the totals in until yesterday and yesterday, we were all busy watching the Super Bowl...well, some of us watched the Super Bowl, while the others played Catch Phrase....I don't know about everybody else, but I had a great time. I am so glad we got to spend time together as a group, even if it was a little crowded!

The totals are in for the week, 219.97 miles for this past week and we are now at a total of 1206.79 miles. We are more than 1/4 of the way to our goal and we are still working very hard to meet it!

Keep praying for us please!! We covet your prayers and your support. Please send your friends and family to this Blog and ask them to add us as a blog they follow.

I am getting very excited about the cool products/coupons we will be offering in our Basket Raffle...you won't want to miss this...just to give you a sneak peek...we are giving away pies or cakes, cupcakes, a child's tee shirt, a free outdoor picture sitting with a free CD of pictures, a fruit basket, and homemade items.

Week 4 totals are finally in

Sorry for the delay in posting. Several of us were at a Stampin' Up party last night and I didn't have enough time to get the totals together and make the post. This week we came in a little short, but hopefully we will have more days like today (it is a beautiful, warm 65 degrees - we even have our windows open), and we will be able to get out and get moving more!!

This week's totals are 274.61 miles for the week, which brings us to 986.82 miles total. Although we are short, to think that we will go over 1000 miles next week, is amazing for 5 families!!

Please continue to pray for us for health and safety as we continue to walk the miles for Jesus. Pray for our commitment to serving God. Pray for everybody who is going to Romania and also on the other Mission trips being offered this year. Pray about supporting us in our endeavor to meet the financial goals and the deadlines that are coming up soon. Thank you to those who have already blessed us with contributions, it means the world to us!!

3rd Week Totals are In

We all have very busy lives....but we have really tried to STEP it up this week. Our families walked a total of 288.96 miles this week! We have now completed 712.21 miles. This is the best week by far and we are doing everything we can to do even better next week. We are getting our families involved and we are looking forward to continuing walking down this path towards Romania!

Other things are starting to pick up as well. I have gotten confirmation for some great items for our basket(s) raffle and will still be working on that in the coming weeks. Stay tuned...you won't want to miss a chance (or several) chances to win a basket filled with locally owned business goodies and hand-made with love items. ***IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE ANYTHING FOR OUR BASKETS*** please let me (Bobbie). If you own your own business, we will attach your business card to your item and will be listing the donated items when the basket becomes ready to be raffled off - Can you say FREE ADVERTISING??? Anything you can give, that is home-made, or would make a great GIFT is welcomed.

Thank you for following our updates. We look forward to continue walking and believe with your prayers and God behind us, we will go far!

God Blessings to you all!

2nd Week Totals

This week has been crazy for all of the families who are walking. We had snow/ice down here in NC and it has pretty much crippled our fine city. Many of us felt that we didn't walk as much as we should have, with the snow and ice and sicknesses, but we all agree that we will pick it back up this week.

This week, we clocked 204.5 miles. This makes a total right now of 423.25 miles walked. We are well on our way to Romania. Won't you join us in praying for our team? Thank you for your support. Please pass this website on to anybody you know. We definitely would like to grow our supporters and prayer warriors as we continue this challenge.

Praying that everybody has a great week.

Our First Week Totals are In

Well Friends...our first week is complete and our Exerciser Tracker has been updated. All families have posted their totals and all together we have walked 218 miles towards our goal of 5,311. Not bad for our first week! We are excited to continue on this journey.

Please follow our progress on this blog and tell all of your friends about us. We would like to have more followers. Our personal letters will be sent out soon, but our hope is we will have people see us and the progress we are making and want to contribute to our goal.

We also ask that you include us in your prayers. We know that prayer works and we also know we have great friends who believe in prayers. Together, we can not only walk our way to Romania, but we can pray our way as well! THANK YOU for your support.

Website still under construction

We are still making changes, please come back often for updates. We plan to update the total miles walked every Saturday. Soon, we will have biographies of all of the families to the right so you can get to know us....check out the individual pages in the days to come!!

Welcome to Our Blog

Hello - thank you for visiting our website. We are very excited to be Walking the Miles to Romania for Jesus.

We would love for you to click on the right and follow our progress over the next 6 months. We are aiming to walk a total of 5,311 miles, which according to Google, is the air mileage from Charlotte, NC to Romania. There are 11 of us. We have 4 months...that means an average of 482 miles each over the next 4 months.

Please be in prayer about helping us. We are asking for pledges of any amount. Seriously...anything and everything will help! Just 1 cent a mile for all 5,311 miles would be $53.11. 2 cents a miles is $106.22. If you can't afford either, any small amount will greatly appreciated. No amount to small!

This is our plan. We are starting now in January. There are 11 of us. We have 4 months (from now through April). We will each aim to walk 482 miles. We are asking for your help. Please click the CHIP IN button above or contact us individually or by comment if you have any questions. We will have other opportunities as well. We are planning a yard sale/bake sale/craft sale, we will also be doing a Basket Raffle, and a drama/dessert coming up in March.

Our prayer is that we are able to use your donations to benefit the people of Romania. We want to bless them and love on them!

More to come!
